Mama Black's Chocolate Chocolate-Chip Brownies 1/2 cup (1 stick) UNsalted butter, (Land o Lakes) 2 ounces unsweeted chocolate, quality is important here... I recommend Ghirardelli, NOT Bakers 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup flour, sifted 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional; do toast them to bring out the flavor before chopping, (325 for 5 to 7 minutes) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, quality, quality, quality...Nielsen-Massey 2 eggs slightly beaten 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips...Ghirardelli, Caulebaut, or even Nesltle's; you can mix dark, milk and white -->Preheat oven to 350. Butter an 8" square glass pan. -->Melt butter and chocolate, slowly in microwave or in double boiler. (Chop chocolate first if using microwave) Remove from heat and stir well. In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate-butter mixture with the next four ingredients. Stir well. -->Add the eggs and mix well; stir in chocolate chips. -->Pour into prepared pan, lick bowl and bake 30 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out almost clean. DO NOT OVERCOOK! These should be moist and chewy. (I suggest checking the temperature of your oven with an oven thermometer, as most ovens need calibrating and tend to run hot. That can make a big difference in cooking time.) Cool thoroughly and then dig in. Wonderful with ice-cream and raspberry sauce. (Puree frozen raspberries in a blender with sugar to taste.)
